If the current system is redesigned along the lines of a fire service with local oil spill response facilities in place, this would greatly increase the public awareness of the response regime. Having its main focus on environmental protection rather than minimizing the cost of oil spills to the oil industry would likely enhance the interest and positive viewpoint and confidence of the public toward oil industry activities in Canada.

We are aware. And disgusted with Trudeau and his lack of knowledge or concern about consent. The Liberal government’s egregious spending of our tax dollars, the insane lack of protection for our environment and the absolute disregard for our people and our future as Canadians. How dare you all.

I think that our government should make full use of the RACs that are in place for achieving an important angle of that very purpose; a purpose that most have succeeded in doing quite well. I'm speaking from experience with the results of annual public meetings held to inform and collect ideas and discussions regarding the regime's preparedness and response. Doing so, developping a tread of ongoing topics that respond to inquieries and inform and educate as well as allowing many if not all of the various agencies federal, provincial, municipalités, NGOs, to collectively presents various aspects of answers to complicated questions and generating better understanding. This is possible because the RAC meets regularly with all governmental agencies involved and thrust and chemistry has taken solid allowing frank discussions and across the board collaboration. This kind of "public" awareness is one angle that to me is important, recognizing there are also many other needs to cover.
