Consultation has concluded
As we continue modernizing our services, we want your feedback on changes we’re proposing for our aircraft registration services.
Registering aircraft makes sure that:
Transport Canada knows the identity of an aircraft’s owner and operator
Transport Canada can contact the owner about critical safety issues relating to the aircraft
aircraft operators, air traffic control units and other pilots can communicate effectively by using the aircraft registration mark as an identifier
The changes we’re proposing
Most of our aircraft registration fees have been the same for over 20 years and taxpayers are paying for most of these program costs. We’re proposing that the people who use our services pay a bigger share of the costs by:
adding fees for some services that are currently free, and
increasing fees
To reflect how our aircraft registration services have changed over the years, we’re also modernizing the services and fee structure by removing some fees
The proposed fees range from $70 to $650 and would come into effect in the spring of 2024.
